Welcome to our community. This forum is a safe space where patients, their families and healthcare professionals can share their experiences. To ensure a constructive and safe environment, the following rules apply:
- Medical warnings and safety
- Not a substitute for a doctor: This forum is intended for people in similar situations to share their experiences. Members’ advice is based on personal experiences and must under no circumstances be regarded as medical advice. If you have symptoms, please always consult a doctor.
- Dosages and medication: It is strictly forbidden to recommend specific dosages or to offer or sell (prescription) medication.
- Alternative medicine: Discussions about complementary healing methods are permitted, but claims of ‘cures’ through scientifically unproven methods (quackery) will not be tolerated.
- Behaviour and respect
- Empathy comes first: Everyone experiences their illness differently. Please respect the fact that members may have different levels of resilience.
- No prejudice: Do not judge others based on their decisions (e.g. regarding treatment or lifestyle).
- Tone and language: Remain polite. Insults, discrimination, harassment or any aggressive behaviour will result in immediate exclusion.
- Warnings: When discussing sensitive topics (such as death or palliative care), use a clear title or include a warning above your post so that members can decide whether they wish to read it.
- Moderators’ decisions: If a moderator decides to close a thread or issue a warning to a member, that decision is final. Discussions regarding moderation do not take place publicly, but via private message (PM).
- Clear titles: Give your topic a clear title (e.g. ‘Experiences with [type of medication] during physical exertion’ instead of ‘Quick question’).
- Confidentiality and reliability
- Anonymity: Please exercise caution when providing your address, telephone number or full name.
- Confidentiality of others: Never disclose other members’ personal details or medical information outside this forum without their express consent.
- No commercial advertising: It is forbidden to advertise products, services or commercial tools. Requests to participate in medical surveys must also be approved in advance by the moderators.
- Content and relevance
- Use the search function: Before creating a new topic, please check whether your question has already been asked. This helps keep the forum clear and well-organised.
- Clear titles: Give your topic a clear title (e.g. ‘Experiences with [type of medication] during physical exertion’ instead of ‘Quick question’).
- Off-topic: There is a special sub-forum (the ‘Salon’) for discussions not related to lung diseases. Please ensure that the specialist subforums remain topic-specific.
- Moderation and enforcement of the rules
- Report a post: Have you noticed a post that breaks the rules? Use the report function instead of getting involved in the discussion yourself.
